2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 4

Cleveland's Chase DeLauter, José Ramírez, Hunter Gaddis, and Franco Aleman all had strong performances in the team's 11-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics.

The Cleveland Guardians suffered their second 2024 Cactus League loss with an 11-2 defeat to the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for Tuesday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Chase DeLauter

MLB Pipeline’s 31st-ranked prospect had a productive offensive performance, going 2-for-2 at the plate.

After hitting a single to begin the bottom of the sixth inning, DeLauter hit a mammoth solo home run two innings later, his first home run of the spring.

José Ramírez

Cleveland’s mainstay third baseman recorded his first RBI of the spring.

With Oakland ahead 1-0, the 31-year-old hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1. He was eventually caught stealing second base to end the inning.

Ramírez ultimately finished 1-for-2 at the plate, as he flew out to end the first inning.

Hunter Gaddis

After pitching a perfect inning of relief in the Guardians’ Cactus League opener, the 25-year-old right-hander had another efficient relief outing.

He allowed just one hit and threw two strikeouts in two scoreless innings of work, facing just seven batters.

Franco Aleman

The right-handed reliever, who did not allow a single earned run in his final 19 games of last season with Double-A Akron, pitched well in his first appearance of the spring.

The 23-year-old faced just four batters in a scoreless top of the eighth inning, allowing one walk and throwing a strikeout.

Up next, Cleveland will face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. EST.
