Cleveland Guardians 2022 MLB First Round Draft Pick 21-year-old outfielder Chase DeLauter is getting closer to finally making his professional debut after rehabbing and recovering from surgery on his left foot.

DeLauter participated in an extended spring training out in Arizona Thursday for the Guardians playing five innings in left field going 2-for-2 at the plate with a double vs the Dodgers.

In 2022 DeLauter suffered a broken left foot shortened while playing in college for James Madison. He then reinjured his foot in December (Small fracture at the base of his 5th toe) after signing for $3.75 million as the 16th overall pick. He underwent surgery to replace a screw with a bone graft in this past January and was given a four-to-five-month timetable to return to play.

The plan for now as mentioned it the tweet above is for DeLauter to continue to see playing time in extended spring training games and increase his number of innings played to a full game.

From there he is expected to make his regular season debut in the upcoming Arizona Complex League that begins June 5th. Once he gets rolling in Complex League action look for DeLauter to then be assigned to a full season affiliate most likely the High-A Lake County Captains presumably mid to late June.
