Miami Marlins Lineup for Saturday Matchup with Braves

The Marlins will be looking to grab a home win over the Braves this afternoon.

The Atlanta Braves used a big inning on offense and a vintage Max Fried outing on the mound to take down the Miami Marlins 8-2 in Friday night’s opener.

And so the two teams are back it this afternoon. Lefty Chris Sale is on the mound for the Braves today, taking on Miami’s Max Meyer.

Lineups for the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins on Saturday, April 13th

Here's how Atlanta will line up for the contest:

RF Ronald Acuña Jr
2B Ozzie Albies
3B Austin Riley
1B Matt Olson
DH Marcell Ozuna
CF Michael Harris II
SS Orlando Arcia
C Travis d'Arnaud
LF Jarred Kelenic

The Braves are hoping that Chris Sale can continue to flash the resurgent form that’s eluded him in recent seasons as he’s dealt with a multitude of sometimes fluky injuries. So far in 2024, he’s 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his 10.2 innings, having struck out thirteen and walked only two.

Sale doesn’t have much history with this Marlins lineup, with only two players having more than ten at-bats against him in the veteran’s fourteen year career. Shortstop Tim Anderson, who got the day off for the opener, is 2-13 against the lefty while embattled outfielder Avisaíl García is 3-12. No member of the Marlins roster has hit a homer off of Sale.

Here's Miami’s lineup:

2B Luis Arraez
DH Josh Bell
1B Jake Burger
LF Bryan De La Cruz
CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
RF Avisaíl García
3B Emmanuel Rivera
C Christian Bethancourt
SS Vidal Bruján

Prospect Max Meyer has been one of the few bright spots for the Marlins amidst their franchise-worst start to the season. He’s 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his first two starts, striking out seven and walking three in his eleven innings. No member of the Atlanta roster has ever faced Meyer in the majors, so it’ll be purely scouting report based this afternoon.

Meyer's a “new-age” pitcher - similar to Atlanta veteran Charlie Morton, his primary pitch is a breaking ball, his slider, which he throws in the high-80s and uses almost half of the time (46%). His fastball (31% usage) has good velocity, coming in at an above-average 95 mph, and he supplements it with a high-80s changeup (15% usage) and an occasional mid-90s sinker (8%) primarily used in certain handedness situations.
