Takeaways: Marlins Drop Another Close One in 4-3 Loss to Giants

The Miami Marlins fell to the San Francisco Giants in their return home on Monday.

The Miami Marlins were unable to hold on to their early lead and dropped one to the San Francisco Giants by a score of 4-3.

Here's all you need to know from the game:

Edward Cabrera has a promising season debut

Cabrera suffered an injury in Spring Training this season that kept him sidelined until today's game against the Giants.

The 26-year-old pitched six innings and gave up one run on five hits while striking out 10 batters.

The 10-strikeout mark is the most of any pitcher this season for the Marlins, as well as the second most in his career.

The bullpen quickly let up everything that Cabrera held off, but it was a solid start for him. The Marlins will need Cabrera to step up if they want to turn this season around, espescially since they'll be without Eury Perez.

Offense falls apart after second inning surge

The Marlins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but didn't bring home any one else for the rest of the game.

Luis Arraez and Jazz Chisholm each had multiple hits. Avisail Garcia hit a home run. Bryan De La Cruz had a big double that drove in two batters.

After that, though, the offense failed to get anything going. Once the bullpen gave up the lead they had built up, the offense wasn't able to answer.

Marlins welcome Jorge Soler back to town

A nice move by Soler's former club. Soler played two seasons in Miami, including an All-Star Campaign in 2023. This was is first time back in the city since joining his new team, so they played a tribute video for him. Soler went 1-for-3 at the plate.

What's next for the Miami Marlins?

Game two of the series is set for tomorrow evening, with lefty Ryan Weathers taking on Jordan Hicks. first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET.
