Fans of the Baltimore Orioles across the city can rejoice.

The team will officially be playing at Camden Yards for the next 30 years following a lease extension agreed to on Monday, Dec. 18.

This was something that started to get a bit sweaty, as the end-of-year deadline was rapidly approaching and nothing for the future had been agreed upon.

However, good news started to trickle out that something might get done following Maryland Governor, Wes Moore, saying that a deal was "imminent."

Then, early on Dec. 18, only one final hurdle was needed to be cleared after a unanimous vote of approval by the Maryland Stadium Authority sent it to the Maryland Board of Public Works for final steps.

They also unanimously voted to approve this new agreement which officially will keep the Orioles at Camden Yards.

"From the very beginning, I was clear that we would only sign an agreement that puts Maryland taxpayers at the top of mind, keeps the Orioles in Baltimore long term and benefits the entire City of Baltimore, and that is exactly what we have done here by extending the Orioles' stadium lease at Camden Yards for another 30 years," Moore said in a statement.

Baltimore can rest easy knowing that this agreement also has a no-relocation clause that financially disincentivizes the Orioles from leaving the city amongst speculation that Major League Baseball is interested in having a franchise located in Nashville, TN.

"I’m happy we can deliver on our promise to fans of keeping the Orioles here for 30 more years, marking the 100th season of the team in Baltimore," Orioles chairman/CEO John Angelos said in a statement about the new lease.

Now, with this issue out of the way, the Orioles will be able to focus on adding talent to this roster that is on the verge of contending for a World Series championship.
