Despite the Baltimore Orioles heading into the offseason with tons of potential to make exciting moves ahead of 2024, the most pressing issue that was on the minds of many was their lease situation at Camden Yards.

Their current deal is set to expire at the end of the year and despite previous claims, nothing had been agreed upon to keep them there for the long-term.

Maryland Governor, Wes Moore, has been a loud proponent of getting something done and keeping the Orioles in Baltimore.

He was able to deliver good news during a news conference on Monday, saying, "Baltimore, the deal is done."

This comes after a hastily called meeting on Dec. 18 where the Maryland Stadium Authority met and voted unanimously to approve the lease extension and amendments reached between the state and the franchise.

There had been some opposition to the previous deal that Moore and the Orioles announced back in September.

The final hurdle left for this to become official will be a vote by the Maryland Board of Public Works that is set to take place on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 18. Jeff Barker and Hayes Gardner of The Baltimore Sun point out that the overall details are still unknown.

"The lease includes multiple options and scenarios. It could be for 15 years, or as long as 30 years. The longer term is triggered if the club secures the necessary governmental approvals for a separate ground lease granting it rights to redevelop the B&O Warehouse and an area surrounding Camden Yards," they report.

If and when the Maryland Board of Public Works decides to approve the lease extension, more details should be unveiled shortly after that news comes out.
