The Philadelphia Phillies have just completed a trade on Thursday night following their series with the Atlanta Braves

The team announced through a press release that outfielder Dalton Guthrie was sent to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations.

Guthrie was recently designated for assignment after first baseman Darick Hall was activated from the 60-day injured list. Guthrie was the roster casualty as Philadelphia needed the spot on the 40-man roster.

Despite making the Opening Day roster this season, Guthrie quickly hit a skid and was hitting just .167 this season before he found himself without an MLB job.

The Phillies were able to get something back for him in the form of cash considerations. With San Francisco, Guthrie will be seen as outfield depth.

He was immediately assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. The Giants placed Mitch Haniger on the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Guthrie.
