Philadelphia Phillies Make Roster Move Following Opening Day Loss

The Philadelphia Phillies optioned Dalton Guthrie on Thursday following their Opening Day loss to the Texas Rangers.

The Philadelphia Phillies loss 11-7 on Opening Day to the Texas Rangers. It was a bit of a surprise loss after the Phillies jumped out to an early give run lead. Most would think that a five run lead, generated off of Jacob deGrom, and Aaron Nola on the mound would be a recipe for success.

Nine times out of ten you're probably right.

Instead, the Rangers stormed back and took one off of the reigning National League champions.

Following the game, Philadelphia sent outfielder Dalton Guthrie to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. It wasn't an unexpected move, but Guthrie did make the Opening Day roster over players such as Scott Kingery and Kody Clemens.

Christian Pache also joined the team on Thursday evening after the game. Manager Rob Thomson had told us that he would be arriving following the game. He also stated that Pache will be used for more defensive purposes, at least early, but that they are impressed by what he brings to the table.
