The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off of a World Series appearance after overperforming their way through the 2022 MLB postseason.

Then the Phillies went out and made a massive splash in free agency bringing in Trea Turner, Taijuan Walker, Craig Kimbrel and trading for Gregory Soto this past winter.

Now, they sit 10 games back from the Atlanta Braves for the National League East divisional lead and are the top Wild Card team in the NL.

The Aug. 1 MLB trade deadline will be even more important this year as president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and his team will try and make moves to position the team to return, and ultimately win, the World Series.

According to MLB.com, Philadelphia is one of seven teams that should go "all-in" at the deadline.

"Spoiler: They’re not catching the Braves. But you don’t have to go deep into baseball (or Phillies) history to see the value of grabbing even the last playoff spot," writes Anthony Castrovince. "With Aaron Nola nearing free agency, top pitching prospect Andrew Painter having just had Tommy John and Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos and Zack Wheeler all in their 30s, why wouldn’t the Phillies be feeling some urgency?"

This could be the last season the Phillies employ Aaron Nola. The rotation may be in a sort of flux come next year. This team is designed to win for years to come, but this current iteration is supremely talented, even if they haven't yet fired on all cylinders.

Pursuing top-end rotational help or adding a mammoth bat in the outfield would go a long way in helping set them up for another magical October run.

It's the type of situation Dombrowski dreams of being in. This is his bread and butter.

If Philadelphia does go "all-in" the entire league will be put on notice.
