Philadelphia Phillies Call Up Top Prospect, Shakeup Roster Ahead of Padres Matchup

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies will start the second half of the 2023 MLB season with a bang.
Coming out of the MLB All-Star break the Phillies will call up one of their top prospects outfielder Johan Rojas from Double-A Reading according to the team. Rojas will fill Cristian Pache's role of hitting against left-handed pitching and as a defensive substitute.
Infielder Drew Ellis is also being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Pache and Josh Harrison are being placed on the 10-day injured list, and Rojas and Ellis's promotions were the corresponding moves.
It's an exciting move for Rojas who will get his first taste of Major League pitching. He is slashing .306/.361/.484 in Double-A this year. At just 22 years old, Rojas is being heralded as one of the best defensive center fielders that has come through Philadelphia's farm system in a long time.
He is an exciting prospect and getting to watch him go to work at the MLB level will fun to watch.
Rojas is the Phillies no.6 prospect and was signed as an amateur free agent on Jan. 18, 2018.
Even with Rojas's promotion, Brandon Marsh is expected to still get the bulk of playing time in center field.
