The Philadelphia Phillies have traded left-hander Nick Allgeyer to the Houston Astros for cash considerations according to the MLB transaction wire.

Allgeyer spent the first month of the 2023 season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and had 15 strikeouts in 12.0 innings pitched.

He was 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA.

The Astros needed pitching depth as they have seen plenty of injuries on their staff. Allgeyer was assigned to Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

Philadelphia completed the trade ahead of their Friday evening matchup with the Boston Red Sox.

Dave Dombrowski is always looking to wheel and deal but this was an incredibly minor transaction.

The Phillies get some cash for flexibility and Houston gets a minor league depth option.

Philadelphia will take on the Red Sox on Friday for the first of a three-game series. Zack Wheeler is currently on the mound.
