Philadelphia Phillies Fans Argue for Team to Make Blockbuster Arenado Trade

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies just might make a big splash at the MLB trade deadline on Aug. 1.
One name that Phillies fans are clamoring for on social media is St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado.
The New York Post recently released a piece exploring the possibility that Arenado might get traded and his reaction to it.
Arenado was not surprised his name was mentioned as a possible trade candidate considering the Cardinals' recent performance.
That prompted many of Phillies social media to clamor for the front office to make a move to bring in the Platinum Glove winner.
The offer would like hinge of Philadelphia eating most of what remaining on Arenado's eight-year, $260 million contract. It would also likely mean moving Alec Bohm who has been right at replacement level production.
But as fans pointed out, it would likely mean giving up a pitching prospect such as Mick Abel or Griff McGarry.
That being said, it would likely create the most potent offense in MLB and would instantly solidify one of the best infield defenses in the league.
It would be a trade of blockbuster proportions, but it would set Philadelphia up for a huge stretch run. It would also catapult their chances of returning to the World Series.
It's just a matter of whether or not the Phillies will engage on what could be a significant asking price in terms of player and financial return.
Adding Nolan Arenado would be huge for the Phils, and I'm not against it. Bohm would probably be involved in a deal, and one of the pitching prospects would likely have to go, too. Maybe the offensive upgrade at 3B means you can live with a Marsh/Pache combo in LF/CF. https://t.co/KDq2LVNPM3

Hmmm.

Hell of a player. Due significant $$ thru 2026, his age 35 season.
Righthanded power, terrific defender still.
It's a risk. You get older and more expensive, less flexible. Very much an all-in sort of move. Rough April and May, OPS over 1.000 since June.
Maybe. https://t.co/RZFYY9i8hR
