Philadelphia Phillies at White Sox Series Preview: Pitching Matchups, Predictions and More

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies will face the Chicago White Sox for three when they begin play on Tuesday with a doubleheader. That doubleheader is due to Monday night's game being postponed due to high winds and cold temperatures.
However, the pitching matchups will remain the same. Philadelphia is coming off of an 11-run dominating victory over the Cincinnati Reds and carrying all of the momentum. It should be a favorable matchup for the Phillies as the White Sox have also encountered their fair share of struggles.
Here are the series matchups followed by predictions:
Game 1: Tuesday, April 18 at 4:10 p.m. ET
Zach Wheeler (0-1, 4.02 ERA) vs. Lucas Giolito (0-1, 6.00 ERA)
Wheeler was supposed to face Lance Lynn, but with the postponement that appears to no longer be the case. The ace had his first encouraging start of the season the last time out and will look to build off of that. Giolito has struggled to open the season and is searching for answers.
The Phillies' offense should be able to take advantage of this matchup and continue to build momentum.
Game 2: Tuesday, April 18 at 30-40min After Game 1
Bailey Falter (0-2, 4.80 ERA) vs. TBD
Currently, it's Falter taking the mound against an unknown opponent. Falter has been a serviceable fourth starter to start the season after entering camp in a competition for the fifth spot with prospect Andrew Painter.
Depending on the matchup, the Phillies may very well have to hit their way out of this one.
Game 3: Wednesday April 19 at 2:10 p.m. ET
Taijuan Walker (1-1, 4.20 ERA) vs. Mike Clevinger (2-0, 2.20 ERA)
Walker had a very nice outing his last time on the mound and he will try and replicate that performance. Opposite of him is Mike Clevinger who is seeing a nice revitalization of his career on the South Side.
This should be prime television viewing.
Series Prediction:
Philadelphia should be able to take two of the three, especially with Wheeler and Walker taking the mound. It would be surprising to see the Phillies lose the series, but it is 2023 and it is the Philadelphia Phillies.
But 2-1 with a win in the first and third games feels like a safe bet.
