Injuries Piling Up For Phillies Amid Tough Start

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to deal with adversity just six games into the 2023 season.
Not only have they dropped five of six games, the injuries continue to pile up.
Bryce Harper will be out anywhere between mid-May and mid-July while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Rhys Hoskins is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Andrew Painter is sidelined for at least eight weeks with a sprained UCL. Noah Song, a Rule 5 pick, doesn’t appear to be close to making his debut though that was a longshot anyway.
Center fielder Brandon Marsh was scratched from Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees with a mild left ankle sprain. Marsh injured his ankle in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game while chasing after a home run shot by DJ LeMahieu.
Marsh’s spikes appeared to give on the warning track.
Now Darick Hall has suffered a sprained right thumb in the fourth inning of Wednesday’s game while trying to stretch a single into a double. Hall will be re-evaluated on Thursday and his immediate status is unknown.
Following a series sweep by the Texas Rangers, the Phillies then lost two of three to the Yankees.
The Phillies opened 3-10 in 2007 and made the playoffs and followed a 2-4 start in ’08 with a World Series title.
Health means so much to winning teams. For now, the Phillies are struggling on the field with wins and off the field with injuries.
It’s not ideal but it’s far from time to panic.
