It’s no secret why the Philadelphia Phillies have compiled their first three-game winning streak of the season.

They’re hitting home runs.

Nick Castellanos ripped his first two on Saturday and the Phillies came back with four more in a 9-3 win Sunday to take three of four from the Colorado Rockies.

Brandon Marsh, Bryson Stott, Trea Turner and Kody Clemens all went deep for the Phillies.

Overall, the Phillies popped seven over the fence during the weekend. Three of them came with at least one runner on base, something they accomplished only five times in their first 21 games.

"At the beginning of the season, it felt like we'd get a one-hitter from our pitchers and we'd get shut out or we'd score eight and give up 10," Stott said. "But that's just baseball, and putting it all together at once is what good teams do. And we think we're a good team."

Without Most Valuable Player candidate Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins, the Phillies struggled with their power before this weekend.

When pressed on the subject, manager Rob Thomson said home runs would “come in bunches.”

Thomson, a baseball lifer, was correct.

The Phillies can’t expect to hit four home runs in every game, but they still boast a potent lineup capable of hitting the ball out of the ballpark.

When Harper and even Darick Hall return, the lineup will be even more dangerous.
