Ranking the MLB Mascots

#27: Slider — Cleveland Indians

What even is this? It looks like someone spilled yellow paint on Barney.

#26: D. Baxter the Bobcat — Arizona Diamondbacks

Having a snake as your mascot might not be the friendliest, but this Bobcat is not kind looking either.

#25: Southpaw — Chicago White Sox

Good name, but looks like the green, vegetable loving version of cookie monster.

#24: Homer the Brave — Atlanta Braves

Baseball head mascots are cool, but this seems like the Braves just copied the Mets and Reds.

#23: Fredbird — St. Louis Cardinals

There is so much potential for a cool looking Cardinal mascot, but Fredbird is very underwhelming.

#22: Rangers Captain — Texas Rangers

Not bad, but not great. Captain has some wild hair.

#21: T.C. Bear — Minnesota Twins

Shouldn’t there be two bears? Also, why a bear?

#20: Screech — Washington Nationals

Good patriotic mascot. Could’ve beefed it up a little more though. Pretty scrawny bird.

#19: Raymond — Tampa Bay Rays

Raymond is so wild looking that you can’t hate him.

#18: Bernie Brewer — Milwaukee Brewers

Cool story behind Bernie, but doesn’t do a lot for me appearance wise.

#17: The Pirate Parrot — Pittsburgh Pirates

Having a parrot as the mascot is clever. People seem to love the furry green guys.

#16: The Oriole Bird — Baltimore Orioles

Good mascot, but the team seriously couldn’t think of anything better than “The Oriole Bird” as the name?

#15: Swinging Friar — San Diego Padres

Funny and random, but also modeled after a real person who used to show up to games as a friar.

#14: Lou Seal — San Francisco Giants

Can’t go wrong with a seal, but why a seal and not a giant?

#13: Clark — Chicago Cubs

Fun-loving mascot named after the street outside the stadium. Solid, and bonus points for actually looking like the team’s nickname.

#12: Mariner Moose — Seattle Mariners

Creative and well designed. Embracing the northern culture.

#11: Stomper — Oakland Athletics

You can never go wrong with an elephant mascot. Cute and fun, Stomper is great, except for the fact that I don’t understand the connection to an “athletic.”

#10: Sluggerrr — Kansas City Royals

The crown coming out of his head is a great touch.

#9: Billy the Marlin — Miami Marlins

The only knock is that it’s not furry, but Billy sure looks cool.

#8: Orbit — Houston Astros

Orbit is a heck of a dancer.

#7: Ace — Toronto Blue Jays

The blue just pops. Easily the best of the bird mascots.

#6: Wally the Green Monster — Boston Red Sox

Michael J. LeBrecht II

A green blob, but it’s so funny looking that it makes Wally cool.

#5: Paws — Detroit Tigers

Refreshing to see a team pick a mascot that actually resembles the team. Seems like a mascot you’d want to hangout with.

#4: Gapper, Rosie Red, Mr. Redlegs, and Mr. Red — Cincinnati Reds

An awesome squad of mascots. Mr. Redlegs is the cream of the crop though.

#3: Dinger — Colorado Rockies

It’s a purple dinosaur, how cool is that! A triceratops skull fossil was found during the construction of Coors Field, which explains the choice.

#2: Mr. and Mrs. Met — New York Mets

Classic. Mr. Met was the first real mascot in Major League Baseball.

#1: Phillie Phanatic — Philadelphia Phillies

Simply the best. He’s more entertaining than this year’s Phillies team.
