Rangers Prospect Brock Porter Ready to Star ... in 2025

The Texas Rangers system has a wealth of pitching talent, but MLB.com identified one as the team's potential No. 1 prospect in 2025.

Brock Porter hasn’t even thrown a pitch for the Texas Rangers organization and he’s already buzzed about his potential … in 2025.

Last year’s fourth-round pick was projected by MLB.com as the Rangers’ No. 1 overall prospect in 2025, a list the site produced for every organization.

The Rangers selected Porter out of St. Mary's Prep (Orchard Lake, MI) in the fourth round.

He’ll make his first appearance professional in the Rangers’ system this season. But, in 2025, per MLB.com:

Porter, MLB Pipeline's top-rated pitching prospect, slid to the 109th pick of the 2022 Draft and shattered the fourth-round bonus record ($3.7 million). Gatorade's national high school player of the year, he had the best fastball and one of the best changeups in last year's prep class..

Porter was already committed to Clemson to play baseball when the Rangers selected him, and they made it a priority to get him into the organization, hence the record bonus.

Along with the national Gatorade Player of the Year, he was a two-time Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year who went 9-0 with a 0.41 ERA, 115 strikeouts in 58 innings and three no-hitters in 2022.

The Rangers released their full Major League Spring Training roster on Friday. Porter was not on it, so he’ll head to minor-league camp later this spring.

Pitchers and catchers report and have their first workouts on Feb. 15. The rest of the roster will report and begin practice on Feb. 20.

The Spring Training game schedule starts on Feb. 24 with a game against Kansas City at the Surprise complex shared with the Royals.

The Rangers wrap up their exhibition season with a pair of games at Globe Life Field against the Royals on March 27 and 28. The Rangers open up the regular season at home against Philadelphia on March 30.
