Derek Holland Wishes Texas Rangers 'Good Luck' On Opening Day

In this story:
At least one former Texas Rangers pitcher is taking in Thursday’s Opening Day against the Philadelphia Phillies as a fan.
Fan favorite Derek Holland posted a video to Twitter early Thursday inside Globe Life Park wishing everyone a happy Opening Day.
“Happy Opening Day to everybody out there, all my teammates, all the guys I played with and against. This is it. I’m here today in Arlington, checking out the Rangers. Obviously showing some love (tips Rangers cap). Again, best of luck to all my friends and teammates that are playing right now. It’s awesome. Wish you guys nothing but a healthy, happy season. Stay out there, kick some a**, do your thing. Good luck to the Rangers, my home, my love. Good luck to you guys.”
It’s finally here. OPENING DAY!!!!! Let’s go!!!! pic.twitter.com/onbv05XVBT

Holland is unsigned and worked out for Major League teams in January in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Holland didn’t pitch at the Major League level in 2022, though he was in both the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox organizations. Combined he went 0-3 with a 5.77 ERA with 30 appearances, six of which were starts.
Holland not only played for the Rangers, but he played for Texas manager Bruce Bochy with the San Francisco Giants. Holland previously called Bochy a “players’ coach” who is similar to former Rangers manager Ron Washington.
Holland broke into the Majors in 2009 with Texas and spent eight years with the team, going 62-50 with a 4.35 ERA. In 2011 he led the American League in shutouts with four, as he went 16-5 and helped the Rangers to their second straight World Series appearance.
For his career, Holland is 82-83 with a 4.62 ERA.
