CINCINNATI — The Reds are looking to add depth to their starting rotation and Trevor Bauer is hoping to make it back to the Major Leagues.

Cincinnati was reportedly "close" to signing Sonny Gray before he agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract with the Cardinals. That led one Reds fan to ask Bauer if he'd want to return to the Queen City.

"Yeah of course," Bauer tweeted. "Loved playing in Cinci and never got to celebrate playoffs with the fans, still have a lot of friends there, got on really well with the staff and front office, and the team is good and has real winning chances, what’s not to like?"

Bauer won the 2020 Cy Young Award with the Reds after finishing that season with a 1.73 ERA, 100 strikeouts and two complete games.

He pitched for the Dodgers in 2021, but was placed on administrative leave and ultimately suspended for 324 games after being accused of sexual assault.

The suspension was shortened to 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December and ruled that Bauer be reinstated. The Dodgers released him after his reinstatement.

The 32-year-old claims he did nothing wrong and settled the dispute with his accuser in October.

Bauer is a free agent and can sign with a team at anytime. He spent the 2023 season in Japan playing for the Yokohama Bay Stars. He posted a 2.59 ERA in 24 appearances.
