Mike Clevinger is officially off the Padres' division series roster. Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that it approved a roster substitution for San Diego. Clevinger suffered an elbow injury and will now be replaced by Dan Altavilla. His injury would keep him from pitching in the postseason unless the Padres made it the World Series. However, since Clevinger was replaced during the NLDS, he is ineligible to be on the NL Championship Series roster.

The switch to Altavilla was made before Game 2 making the pitcher available immediately. The Padres face the Dodgers in game 2 of the NLDS on Wednesday night.
