It has been decided.

New York Yankees DH/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday.

The Patriots made the official announcement on their main Twitter account.

Stanton has been on the injured list since April 16 with a hamstring strain.

If all goes well, the slugger could potentially rejoin the Yankees over the weekend when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

Prior to landing on the shelf, Stanton was hitting .269 with four home runs.

The return of Stanton will give the Yankees another legitimate power bat in the middle of their lineup to complement superstar Aaron Judge. Judge just hit his 16th and 17th home runs of the season on Monday night, and now leads the American League.

It's unknown how many rehab games Stanton will require, but the 33-year-old will likely be back in the Yankees' lineup in the near future, barring any setbacks.
