The New York Yankees figure to be active buyers at this season's MLB trade deadline. Especially when it comes to adding rotational help.

One intriguing name may have just become available is Marcus Stroman, as his team, the Chicago Cubs, are seemingly out of the National League Central race.

Inside the Cubs has named the Yankees as a potential fit to add Stroman. New York has rolled out a rotation this season largely void of Luis Severino and Carlos Rodón. However, the former has made his way back to an MLB mound while Rodón is in the midst of his rehab assignment.

Domingo Germán has found himself in the middle of "sticky-stuff" controversy all season, but has proven to be effective when he does pitch.

That being said, Stroman is among the National League leaders in ERA and thrown well against stiff competition all season.

Stroman owns a 2.59 ERA with a miniscule 0.986 WHIP through 73.0 innings pitched. He also boasts a 7.6 K/9 ration, which is impressive considering he is known for being a groundball pitcher.

Additionally, out his 12 starts this season, 10 have been quality starts, one of which was a one-hit, complete game shutout.

By adding him, the Yankees ensure they can have a dominant stretch run and position themselves well for a deep postseason run.

The Yankees have never shied away from adding a big ticket name at the trade deadline.

After multiple seasons of disappointing postseason exits, a move to acquire Stroman may just be what New York needs to finally get them over the top.

As evidenced this season not just with the Yankees, but the entire league, one can never have enough quality pitching.
