New York Yankees Lose All-Star to IL Again

He's back on the shelf.
On Sunday, the New York Yankees placed All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
Donaldson pulled his calf while running out a groundout during Saturday night's game against the Colorado Rockies.
This is the second time this season that Donaldson will spend time on the IL. The 37-year-old missed nearly two months with a hamstring strain earlier in the year.
Donaldson just hasn't been able to get going at the plate throughout his Yankee tenure, and season No. 2 has been plagued by injuries.
General manager Brian Cashman was hoping to see some "runway" where Donaldson received regular at-bats to pick things up, but it hasn't played out that way.
In 106 at-bats this season, Donaldson has just 15 hits, 10 of them being home runs. He is batting .142/.225/.434 with a .659 OPS.
To replace Donaldson on the roster, the Yankees have recalled top prospect infielder Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
It will be interesting to see if Peraza is able to produce, granted he receives consistent playing time this go around in the major leagues.
The Yankees have a record of 50-43 and they're one game out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. They're hoping that superstar outfielder Aaron Judge can return soon, and that Peraza can provide a spark now that he is back in the big-leagues.
