Yankees Schedule Two-Game Exhibition in Mexico City

The two-game series against Diablos Rojos del México will be played on March 24 and March 25.

The New York Yankees will conclude Spring Training with a bang.

On Friday, the team announced they will be playing a two-game exhibition series in Mexico City, scheduled for Sunday, March 24, and Monday, March 25. The Bronx Bombers will square off against the Diablos Rojos del México in Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium.

Although this will be the Yankees' first exhibition south of the border since 1968, Major League Baseball has already hosted regular season action in Mexico City in the same stadium. In 2023, Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium hosted a two-game series between the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres on April 29-30, with the Padres winning both games. For the upcoming 2024 season, the stadium will host another two-game set on April 27-28 between the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies as part of MLB World Tour.

The Yankees' spring training slate officially ends on the day of the second game (March 25), so they will be using a split-squad for the exhibition. Nonetheless, this will be an exciting tune-up before the Yankees begin the regular season, especially when they get to bat. Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium features an altitude of 7,349 feet, which is over 2,000 feet higher than the altitude of Coors Field, which is by far the highest MLB stadium at 5,200 feet above sea level. 

Three days after the exhibition, the Yankees will travel to Houston and begin their 2024 season against the Astros on Thursday, March 28.
