EliteXC's final event of the year coming together

The final show for EliteXC in 2008 is taking shape as the promotion's head of fight operations, Jeremy Lappen, disclosed the majority of the card during an appearance on MMAWeekly Radio on Tuesday night.

The main event, as previously announced, will pit EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler against top ranked opponent Joey Villasenor in a rematch of a fight the two waged under the Pride banner a couple of years back.

Lawler won that fight in 22 seconds after catching Villasenor with a flying knee. Now, Villasenor will get his chance at redemption.

Also on the card, Eddie Alvarez, the No. 3 lightweight in the world according to MMAWeekly.com's World MMA Rankings, returns to action in the U.S. to take on Nick Diaz to crown a new EliteXC lightweight champion.

Alvarez burst onto the lightweight scene earlier this year with a phenomenal run in the Dream Grand Prix in which he was the only fighter to go undefeated and picked up wins over Top 10 fighters such as Tatsuya Kawajiri and JoachimHansen.

Also confirmed is a women's bout as top Canadian female Sarah Kaufman makes her EliteXC debut against a heavy handed Kaitlin Young.

Scott Smith returns to action on Nov. 8 for the first time since suffering a loss to Lawler in July. He will face Hector Lombard, a former Pride competitor, currently riding a 10-fight win streak with one draw being the only detractor from his last 11 fights.

Lappen also confirmed that top light heavyweight Rafael "Feijao" Calvancante will be on the card, but an opponent has not yet been secured. Rumors have placed both Cyril Diabate and new star Seth Petruzelli in the running for the fight, but nothing has been solidified.

Plans call for at least five of the Nov. 8 fights to be telecast on Showtime.
