Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White breached his own company’s regulatory protocol by removing a judge during UFC Fight Night 48 last Saturday in China, the UFC announced

White had requested that judge Howard Hughes be removed from working any further bouts saying later that he did not agree with Hughes’s scorecards.

UFC said that “neither White nor any other UFC executive possesses such authority” to remove Hughes.

The company apologized to Hughes for what they said was “calling his professional judgment into question.” The UFC said they look forward to Hughes, who has judged more than 25 UFC fight cards, to working at the company’s events in the future.
