A parade has been planned for UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm in Albuquerque, N.M. on Sunday afternoon.
The former elite boxer knocked Rousey out in the second round of their UFC 193 matchup to hand Rousey her first UFC loss. Holm shockingly dropped Rousey to the ground with a kick to the neck and finished things off with a flurry of punches. It was Holm’s seventh career win by knockout.
With her victory at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, Holm moved to 10–0–0 in her career, while Rousey dropped to 12–1–0.
Holm’s trainer Mike Winkeljohn says the new champion’s life has changed wildly since her victory in UFC 193.
“The media attention’s been crazy, the fans, the people,” Winkeljohn said. “I know she’s at a whole different level where she can’t get back to all of her fans and family and friends that want something from her. She’s going to make sure she takes care of everybody; that’s how Holly is.”
The parade for Holm will take place in downtown Albuquerque and will also serve as a winter clothing drive.
