Conor McGregor regrets not doing promotion for UFC 200

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor opened up about his recent spat with the sport’s executives over his promotional obligations, saying that he regrets getting himself taken off the card at UFC 200 during an interview with Kenny Mayne.
McGregor was scheduled to fight Nate Diaz in a rematch of UFC 196, however, he refused to fly to the United States to promote the fight.
The Irish fighter claimed that the promotion tour would take away from his ability to train, but the UFC and president Dana White held firm on their side, taking no time to remove McGregor from the fight.
“Seeing the press conferences take place, I should have just jumped on the damn flight. I should’ve just stuck it out and went with it,” McGregor said via CBS Sports. “But sometimes, you’ve gotta do what’s right for you instead of what's right for everybody else—especially if you’ve done what’s right for everybody else a million times over.”
McGregor said that he was willing to negotiate what he believes is a more reasonable promotion schedule, and that he did not completely shut out the UFC.
The UFC is still looking to organize a fight against Diaz, who defeated McGregor by submission in the welterweight fight.
