Top High School Baseball Prospects
Aaron Hicks
Though equipped with a mid-90s fastball, the switch-hitting, five-tool prospect displays good bat speed, quickness on the bases and power at the plate. A regular in the outfield, he maintains that pitching is his backup.
Adian Nieto
When healthy, the 6-foot, 180-pound backstop carries a plus arm. His development behind the plate has been somewhat limited by an elbow injury.
Alex Meyer
The lanky righty (6-7, 200) throws as high as 93 mph and is being advised by Scott Boras.
Brett DeVall
A 6-4, 200-pound southpaw, DeVall is developing command of three pitches.
Destin Hood
Also a top football recruit at wide receiver, Hood exhibits above average speed. He will decide between playing football for Nick Saban and Alabama or playing baseball.
Kyle Skipworth
Still needing to work on his mobility, the 6-3, 190 senior bats left, throws right and hits with power to all fields.
Tim Melville
At 6-5, 200 pounds, Melville is wide-shouldered and deep with potential. He ranks among the top arms in this class.
Xavier Avery
A burner with 6.2 speed in the 60-yard dash, Avery, who has committed to Georgia as a tailback, comes from an athletic family.
Sonny Gray
In spite of his small frame (6-foot, 180), Gray has an easy arm motion and also played quarterback in high school.
Robbie Grossman
A household name in the Houston area, Grossman (6-1,195) can run with the wind and enjoys the competition of close games.
