NBA Rookies at the Summer League

John Wall

John Wall was named the most outstanding player of the Las Vegas Summer League after averaging league bests of 23.5 points and 7.8 assists in four games. The No. 1 pick in the June draft committed 16 turnovers in his first two games but cut that down to five in his last two. He made only 1-of-8 three-pointers.

Evan Turner

The No. 2 pick in the draft averaged only 9.4 points on 33.3 percent shooting and recorded more turnovers than assists at the Orlando Summer League. "Horrible," Turner told the Philadelphia Inquirer in describing his play. "It's not what I expected of myself. I'm not proud of the way I've played. But I'm glad for the experience."

Derrick Favors

After a quiet first four games in Orlando (he attempted only 28 shots and averaged 7.5 points), Derrick Favors (third pick) came alive by scoring 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds in an 86-68 victory against Boston in the Nets' finale.

DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins (fifth pick) led Vegas with 9.8 rebounds but he shot only 33.3 percent from the field in six games, including 9-for-45 (20 percent) in his final three outings.

Greg Monroe

Greg Monroe (seventh pick) heated up as the Vegas competition progressed: He had 20 points and six rebounds in a loss to Miami and followed that with a 27-point, 14-rebound performance in a loss to New York in his finale.

Al-Farouq Aminu

The Clippers lost four of five in Vegas and forward Al-Farouq Aminu (eighth pick) shot only 29.3 percent from the field in getting his 14.8 points.

Gordon Hayward

Coach Jerry Sloan had high praise for Gordon Hayward (ninth pick) after watching him in Orlando. "He's not a mistake-free player," Sloan told the Desert News . "This is a game of mistakes. He'll make a mistake here or there. But he just plays. He just plays basketball. "We had another guy here years ago who did the same thing, and he ended up being a pretty good player -- John Stockton. "I don't mean to put that kind of pressure on [Hayward], but he plays."

Ed Davis

Ed Davis (13th pick) helped the Raptors win all five games in Vegas, averaging 12.6 points (on 63.2 percent shooting), 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.

Patrick Patterson

Patrick Patterson (14th pick) said one of his goals in Vegas was to get used to the longer NBA three-point line. He shot 2-of-11 from long distance in five games while averaging 9.2 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Larry Sanders

Larry Sanders (15th pick) looked impressive in five games. The power forward from VCU averaged 3.2 blocks to go with 14.0 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Dominique Jones

Facing John Wall and the Wizards, Dominique Jones (25th pick) finished with 28 points in the Mavs' 88-82 loss. Jones averaged 16.6 points overall but missed all eight of his three-pointers.

Landry Fields

The Knicks liked what they saw from Landry Fields (39th pick), a 6-7 forward from Stanford. He scored between 13 and 19 points in all five games and shot 52.7 percent from the field.

Derrick Caracter

Derrick Character (58th pick) struggled with fouls and turnovers, but he was among the Vegas leaders in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (8.6).

Pooh Jeter

Pooh Jeter had an impressive stint in Vegas as he tries to earn an invitation to training camp. Jeter, who has played in Spain, Israel, the Ukraine and the U.S. minor leagues since leaving the University of Portland in 2006, averaged 14.4 points and 5.4 assists in five games for Cleveland. He made a game-winning three-pointer in an 81-80 victory against Chicago.

Jeremy Lin

Undrafted out of Harvard, Jeremy Lin's best performance came against John Wall and the Wizards when he went for 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. The Warriors were impressed enough with Lin's summer-league play that they reportedly are offering him a multiyear deal.
