Kevin Harvick Buys Ricky Bobby’s Mansion From ‘Talladega Nights’

With a storied career officially relegated to the history books, NASCAR great Kevin Harvick seems to be enjoying retirement in appropriate fashion.

Per Mecklenburg County public records unearthed by The Charlotte Observer, Harvick and his wife closed Oct. 30 on a mansion on Lake Norman, north of Charlotte—not just any mansion, but the mansion used in the filming of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

The house sold for $6.75 million, a little over $3 million less than the $9.9 million it initially was listed for in March.

In the 2006 movie, an Adam McKay comedy co-written by and starring Will Ferrell that satirized the high tide of NASCAR’s 2000s popularity, Ferrell’s titular character memorably says grace in front of the house’s fireplace.

Dan Moore, who formerly owned the house with his wife, told the Observer that it was the only feature they left untouched during a multimillion-dollar renovation.

Harvick, 47, won 60 Cup Series races and the 2014 title over the course of a 23-year career at NASCAR’s highest level.
