Hawks lend Twitter account to Deadspin for social media takeover

For its social media takeover, Deadspin re-branded the Hawks as the DEATH HAWKS. (@ATLhawks)

The Hawks have a livelier social media presence than most NBA franchises, but shifted into overdrive on Tuesday by giving the keys to their official Twitter account to Deadspin's Drew Magary. The results thus far have been as delightful and absurd as could be expected.
For starters: Magary announced that he'll be singing the national anthem at tonight's game against the Raptors -- undoubtedly a treat for all in attendence. He then, for all intents and purposes, changed the name of the team in a blink; what was once the Atlanta Hawks would now be the ATLANTA DEATH HAWKS, seen in logo form above.
Then, with an audience of 201,000 followers at his mercy, Magary laid claim to the Eastern Conference like a southern gentleman:
Per Southern custom, any insults I post to this feed today WILL be softened with a "bless their heart". #DSTakeover

As in, WE HAVE WON FOUR IN A ROW AND WILL USE THE EAST FOR OUR CAGE LINING. Bless their heart.

He pondered the uniformity of Atlanta sporting mascots:
I'm just saying: A hawk is a bird. A falcon's a bird. A Thrasher's a bird. So why aren't the Braves a bird? THE ATLANTA OSTRICHES.

A thrasher IS a bird, right? Like a bird with a missing wing that thrashes around?

...chimed in on current events:
FACT: Phil Jackson is terrified of all flighted birds.

Our Final Four picks: Hawks, Hawks*, Hawks, Hawks (*champion)

FACT: You know how they discovered the big bang yesterday? It was actually caused a by fearsome Pero Antic DEATH HAWK jam.
