Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay plans to exercise his $19.3 million contract option for the 2014-15 season, reports Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski. However, Gay has tabled extension talks until later this summer.

Gay arrived in Sacramento in February as part of a seven-player deal with Toronto. According to Wojnarowski, the forward has been impressed with new Kings owner Vivek Ranadive. Gay will be able to renegotiate a four-year contract extension after July 1.

Gay, who was selected with the 8th overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Houston Rockets before being traded to Memphis, averaged 20.1 points on 48.2 percent shooting during the 2014-15 season. He spent his first seven years in the league with the Grizzlies, and then two with the Raptors, before heading out west. The Kings finished 28-54 last season.
