With Jason Kidd leaving the Nets to take over as coach of the Bucks, Brooklyn will need to begin searching for its next head coach. The two favorites for the Brooklyn job are reportedly former Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins and Ettore Messina, formerly of CSKA Moscow, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Marc Stein of ESPN notes that Messina "has deep ties to Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov." Before buying the Nets, Prokhorov owned CSKA Moscow, and Messina was linked to the Nets last summer before the team hired Kidd.

Stein also reports that the Nets will look at George Karl and Mark Jackson.

Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Hollins is a "strong candidate" to take over the Nets job.
