Report: Caron Butler, Pistons agree on two-year contract

Free-agent forward Caron Butler and the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a two-year contract in the "range of" $9 million, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported Sunday.

Free-agent forward Caron Butler and the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a two-year contract in the "range of" $9 million, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported Sunday. 

Butler's addition is the second reported free-agent move of the night for the Pistons. Earlier, the team reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with point guard D.J. Augustin. The move will reunite Butler with Stan Van Gundy, the coach for whom he played upon entering the league in Miami.

New Pistons teammate Andre Drummond, a fellow former star at the University of Connecticut, took to Twitter late Sunday night to welcome Butler, who responded by thanking Drummond for his tweet.

The 34-year-old Butler shot 44.1 percent from beyond the 3-point arc last season after signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder in March. He came off the bench most of last season with the Thunder and the Milwaukee Bucks, marking a shift from most of his previous NBA seasons in which he started a vast majority of games.
