Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner was cut by a man in a knife attack in China on Monday, her agent told the Associated Press

Lindsay Kagawa Colas told the AP the incident occurred when Griner was boarding a team bus. The man allegedly swiped at her elbow and left her with a small cut.

Colas said Griner did not need to go to the hospital and didn't receive stitches.

Griner is a two-time WNBA All-Star and former AP Player of the Year from her time at Baylor. She is currently playing with the Beijing Great Wall in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association during her WNBA offseason.

Griner averaged 15.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game with the Mercury last season. Phoenix won the 2014 WNBA title.
