Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins named NBA Rookies of the Month

Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins were named NBA Rookies of the Month for games played in October and November, the league announced Wednesday.

Parker, the second overall pick in this year's draft, nabbed the Eastern Conference honors after ranking second on the Bucks with 11.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, as well as averaging 1.7 assists per game over the Bucks' first 18. The rookie out of Duke also recorded two double-doubles in his first three games, and scored at least 14 points in a game six times, including two games with at least 20 points.

Among rookies, Parker led in scoring and finished second over the first two months in rebounding and steals (1.33 per game).

Milwaukee entered Wednesday seventh in the Eastern Conference at 10-9.

Wiggins, the top overall pick, earned Western Conference honors after averaging 11.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Wiggins scored at least 14 points in a game in nine times, including two with at least 20 points. 

Wiggins ranked second in scoring and first in three-point shooting percentage (.440).

The Bucks' won their first meeting with the Wolves this season 103-86 in Minnesota on Nov. 26. Parker recorded 11 points and seven rebounds, while Wiggins posted 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The two teams will play their final regular-season matchup Jan. 9 in Milwaukee.
