Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob explains why he fired Mark Jackson
Golden State Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob said he fired head coach Mark Jackson because Jackson did not want to hire the best assistant coaching staff, according to Bay Area News Group.
Lacob said another reason was because Jackson "couldn't get along with anybody else in the organization."
Jackson was fired in May after Golden State lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors then hired Steve Kerr, who has led the team to a 16-2 start to the 2014-15 season.

"I think [Kerr] will be great," Lacob said. "And he did the one big thing that I wanted more than anything else from Mark Jackson he just wouldn't do, in all honesty, which is hire the very best.
"Carte blanche. Take my wallet. Do whatever it is to get the best assistants there are in the world. Period. End of story. Don't want to hear it. And (Jackson's) answer ... was, 'Well, I have the best staff.' No you don't. And so with Steve, very, very different."
Since taking over as coach, Kerr has hired associate head coach Alvin Gentry and assistant coach Ron Adams, moves that Lacob praised.
Lacob also said this week that there is a "real possibility" the team's San Francisco arena could open in time for the 2017-18 season, despite the target date being the following season, according to the Bay Area News Group.
