Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James and guard Kyrie Irving and the Brookyn Nets' Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Jarrett Jack and Alan Anderson all wore "I Can't Breathe" shirts before Monday night's game.
The message is in tribute to Eric Garner, a Staten Island man who died after being placed in a chokehold by police in July. Garner was heard on video saying "I can't breathe" while in the chokehold.

On Saturday, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose wore an "I Can't Breathe" shirt during warm-ups. Multiple NFL players, including Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush, wore the message on Sunday.
Outside of the Barclays Center, where the game is taking place, protesters also gathered in support of Garner.
