Video: Vince Carter turns back the clock with dunk on Rudy Gobert

While Vince Carter has aged gracefully into a supporting role as a player, his descent from the peak of the dunking world has come a bit more defiantly.

While Vince Carter has aged gracefully into a supporting role as a player, his descent from the peak of the dunking world has come a bit more defiantly. Carter is still periodically good for a powerful slam although they're less vicious than those that established him as one of the greatest in-game dunkers ever. It's still amazing (or half-amazing?) all the same for a 37-year-old in his 17th NBA season to still throw it down. His latest showcase: A jam over the top of 7-2 Jazz center Rudy Gobert, full of Carter's trademark verve:

Tempting though it might be to compare this dunk to Carter's other dunk over a 7-2 French center, let's not get carried away nor do a disservice to a more current dunk that's tremendous in its own right.

MANNIX: It's clear Mike Conley, Grizzlies are the real deal this season

Despite Carter's dunk, the Jazz defeated the Grizzlies 97-91 on Monday night. Guard Alec Burks led the Jazz with 23 points while Gobert added 16 rebounds in the win. Carter scored 12 for the Grizzlies.
