New York City subway inspires new collection of adidas sneakers

Adidas is releasing shoes inspired by the New York City subway. No, they don't smell.

Adidas has gone "Crazy" for old Kobe signatures.

New York City's subway system served as the latest inspiration for adidas' Broadway Express Collection, set for release on Jan. 8. The new collection includes a couple of Crazy re-releases from Bryant's heyday with the company.

The trio of shoes in the collection includes the current D Rose 5 Boost and two Kobe throwbacks: the Crazy 8 and Crazy 2. Each of the three shoes feature metallic silver prominent in the uppers with hits of yellow and black.

The Crazy 8 was the first signature shoe designed for Kobe Bryant. The Crazy 2 was his next. Both designs epitomized the late 1990s with exaggerated accents, such as a wave-shaped upper molding. The Broadway Express Crazy 8 takes metallic silver to the upper with black piping and yellow accents in the outsole and logos. The Broadway Express Crazy 2 gives us black mesh upper and yellow accents to match with synthetic metallic silver.

The D Rose 5 Boost in Broadway Express offers up a silver mesh upper and metallic silver mudguard. Yellow accents highlight key design elements.

Crazy for the subway. Crazy for old-school Kobe.
