Washington Wizards coach Randy Wittman started walking off the Verizon Center court on Wednesday night before the Wizards' 103-101 loss to the Indiana Pacers was official.

With two seconds remaining, Pacers guard George Hillhit a layup to put Indiana up by two points after a defensive breakdown by the Wizards. Washington forward Rasual Butler then heaved a half-court, desperation shot just before the buzzer in an attempt to tie the game, but Wittman had already begun walking toward the locker room.

[daily_cut.NBA] Wittman was nearly at the opposite baseline when Butler's shot bounced off the top of the backboard.

The loss dropped the Wizards to 40-32, keeping them fifth in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers' win moved them to 31-40, tied with the Boston Celtics for the East's eighth and final playoff spot.

John Wall led all scorers with 34 points in 41 minutes, while Hill led the Pacers with 29 points.
