Texas freshman center Myles Turner has declared for the NBA draft.
Turner was the No. 9 recruit in the high school class of 2014, according to Rivals. During his one season in Austin, he averaged 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks while shooting 45.5% from the field and 27.4% on three pointers.
He made his announcement in a video that also thanked the school and fans.
In his most recent NBA draft Big Board, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix ranked Turner as the No. 12 prospect in the draft.
Texas finished 20-14 this season, losing to Butler in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Turner scored just 22 points in his last five games at Texas.
The Longhorns and head coach Rick Barnes mutually agreed to part ways on Saturday following 17 seasons.
