The Detroit Pistons are set to hire NBA player agent Arn Tellem to help run their franchise, reports Yahoo Sports's Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to the report, Tellem is set to become vice chairman of Palace Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Pistons. An announcement on the hire is expected Friday.

Tellem is an agent with the Wasserman Media Group whose clients include All-Stars Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Anthony Davis, Joe Johnson and LaMarcus Aldridge. Wasserman Media Group has more than 50 NBA players on its roster.

Tellem’s hiring could include an ownership stake in the team, and he is expected to transition out of Wasserman over the next few months.

Tellem would work directly for Pistons owner Tom Gores but would not have the final say in the team’s basketball decisions. Pistons head coach/president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy and general manager Jeff Bower will continue to have that authority.

Van Gundy was hired by the team last May and went 32-50 in his first season.
