Point guard Sergio Rodriguez plans to negotiate a return to the NBA in free agency this summer, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The 29-year-old has spent the last five seasons with Real Madrid in the ACB League and is considered one of the best point guards in Europe.

From the report:

There is a buyout provision in Rodriguez’s Real Madrid contract, but sources familiar with the agreement say it will not be an obstacle to him signing an NBA deal this summer.

Rodriguez's representatives at CAA began to make calls to teams Friday to gauge initial market interest on the guard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Rodriguez was selected in the first round of the 2006 draft. He played three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and also had stints with the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks.

Over four NBA seasons, Rodriguez averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field.
