Grizzlies F Jarell Martin will sit out summer league due to foot injury

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jarell Martin said Monday that he has a stress fracture in his foot.

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jarell Martin said at his introductory press conference on Monday that he sustained a stress fracture in his foot.

The Grizzlies selected Martin with the No. 25 pick in 2015 NBA draft last Thursday. 

Martin said at the press conference that he will sit out of summer league to rest after he “overworked my body throughout this whole [draft] process.”

The 6'1" forward said he went through rehab on his foot in the lead up to the draft and will continue to do so during the summer.

Martin averaged 16.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 35.1 minutes per game during his sophomore season with LSU.

Memphis also acquired No. 44 pick Andrew Harrison in a trade with the Phoenix Suns on draft night.
