Kevin Durant's KD8 Vinary includes odes to Larry Bird and Vince Carter.
Kicks and Colors spotlights the variety of colorways—and the stories that go with—that brands’ unveil in key basketball sneakers.
Signature athlete: Kevin Durant
Story: Kevin Durant had basketball heroes, just like every young player. The new “Vinary”—which was released on Oct. 1—pays tribute to two of his favorites with the green shock and hyper orange colors found on the KD8 sneaker. The black and green on the upper features a nod to Boston green and Larry Bird, while the purple and orange in the sole has a distinct Toronto Raptors flavor—an homage to Vince Carter’s Canadian days. The green bleeds through the black flyweave upper, while black Flywire and laces contrasts the silver Swoosh. And if you were putting Vince and Larry together, wouldn’t you also come up with “Vinary?”
