The NBA preseason is winding down as we inch closer to the start of the regular season on Oct. 27. With a week to go, teams are ramping up their preparations for the long haul ahead.

• Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson’s holdout could last well into the season as both sides have stopped communicating, reports Chris Hayes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Knicks head coach Derek Fisher suggested New York could be this year’s version of the 2014–15 Atlanta Hawks, reports Brian Mahoney of the Associated Press. The Hawks won 60 games and finished first in the Eastern Conference last year.
