Clippers’ Austin Rivers fined $25,000 for tossing seat cushion into stands

Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers has been fined $25,000 by the NBA after throwing a seat cushion into the stands during the team’s season opening 111–104 win over the Sacramento Kings.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers has been fined $25,000 by the NBA after throwing a seat cushion into the stands during the team’s season opening 111–104 win over the Sacramento Kings, the NBA announced.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, with the Clippers in midst of a comeback from a 15-point deficit. In the midst of his team’s struggles, Rivers tossed a cushion from the bench area into the stands, hitting a female fan in the face.

Sam Amick of USA Todayreports the women hit was clearly experiencing discomfort in her eyes for a significant amount of time afterward.

Rivers played 16 minutes on Wednesday, scoring 3 points and grabbing two rebounds.
