D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers will be returning to the point guard position.
Head coach Byron Scott had originally intended to use Russell as an off-the-ball guard this season, but that decision was short lived as the rookie will return to the being a primary ball handler in the Lakers’ upcoming games.
“The one thing I have to get D’Angelo to get better at is pushing the tempo. He’s probably a better decision maker even at 19-years-old and it’s his rookie year. So we’ll have him on the ball right now,” Scott said Thursday.
Russell did not appear to comfortable off the ball, allowing Kobe Byrant and Jordan Clarkson to lead offensively.
The Lakers are set to take on the Sacramento Kings (0–1) on Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET.
